Camtasia 7 is Coming
March 21, 2010
The rumors are true!
The next version of Camtasia Studio from Techsmith is on it’s way and will be available very SOON. This new version is considered a major upgrade and we’re excited to see everything it has to offer!
Check out a couple of teaser videos from Techsmith on the new release of their flagship product Camtasia Studio.
Will it really make screencasting as easy as a “piece of cake”?
We’ll see!
And here’s an interview with the new Product Manager, Shane Lovellete done by Technical Evangelist Betsy Weber:
Shane says:
We’ve got some great new stuff but we’re also addressing a lot of the smaller issues that have been problems for awhile that we want to help make it easier for people to use…
I’ll keep you posted!

I just purchased version 6 last month! I hope I’m entitled to a free upgrade to version 7.

Hopefully the video was done in Camtasia 7. If so, it seems as though they’ve added multiple video tracks, improved cross-boundary transitions, better clip speed capability for segments, and callout synchronisation.

Dave & James:
Techsmith does have a policy of a free upgrade for those that purchase a prior version. I don’t recall how much prior to a release date the grace period is but they are pretty good at taking care of new customers this way…
This is typically ONLY for customers who purchased (in this case) version 6 a month or so before releasing the new version.
If you have Camtasia 5 or earlier, or have owned Camtasia 6 for longer than the grace period, you will need to purchase the upgrade license.

I hope the new version has less quirks in it…I have ongoing tech issues with the dang thing-from reading the user to user forums I am not alone-maybe instead of adding bells and whistles they could get hte existing system a lot less buggy?

Hi Lon, thanks for the update Camtasia V7.
There are only two things I want for Xmas ! Camtasia Screen Capture and Adobe Photoshop. I will never ask for another thing. Ever.
